HG
We have now
hopped past Easter as week three is already here in the marathon that
is the fantasy baseball regular season. We’re fresh out of the draft
and players are heading to the DL in droves. And of course there’s
always those that get off to slow starts.

Waiver Claims

Matt
Wieters C Nationals –

Wieters has gotten off to a hot start in
the Capital City hitting 355 with a homer and 5 runs knocked in. The
former Oriole never quite lived up to the lofty expectations placed
upon him, but with a new start in DC Wieters is worth owning and
starting.

Mark
Reynolds 1B Rockies –
Reynolds is
starting in place of the injured Ian Desmond and is producing beyond
what the Rox had hoped, batting 300 with 4 dingers and 11 RBI in less
than two weeks. With consistent at bats the former Cardinal is worth
using in the short term until Desmond returns.

Ryan
Zimmerman 1B Nationals –
Zimmerman is
another National off to a very nice start batting 378 with an OPS of
1.284 and five of his ten hits going for extra bases. The first
sacker has smacked 3 long balls, with 6 runs driven in, 7 scored and
even 1 stolen base making Zimmerman worth owning and starting.

Chris
Owings SS/OF Diamondbacks –

Owings is getting a chance to play daily
and is off to a very hot start batting 341 as he rides a current
six-game hitting streak. The AZ shortstop has also swiped 4 bases,
jacked a homer, driven in 6 runs while scoring 4 times. Grab him.

Mitch
Haniger OF Mariners –
Haniger
is off to a hot start for the Mariners as he is on a 10-game hitting
streak with 14 hits to go along with 4 long balls and 11 RBI. The
former Diamondback started 1 for 12 but is on a run as he approaches
300 and has scored 12 runs over last dozen contests.

Stephen
Souza OF Rays –
Souza
is off to an impressive start batting 326 with hits in all but three
games and an eye opening 426 on base average. He is also leading
Tampa in base hits, 14, while also having 7 runs scored, 8 driven in.

Jason
Vargas SP Royals –
Vargas is two years
past his Tommy John surgery and has been very impressive in two
starts with just one earned run over 13.2 frames. The Royal’s
southpaw has punched out 14 batters and with an ERA of 0.66, WHIP of
0.86. Ride a hot pitcher whenever you can.

Ervin
Santana SP Twins –
After three starts
Santana has been the most impressive starter in baseball with just
one earned run allowed in 22 frames. The former Royal tossed a one
hit complete game shutout Saturday with 8 strikeouts and should be
owned in all leagues with a ridiculous ERA of 0.41, WHIP of 0.45 and
a 3-0 start to the season.

Jimmy
Nelson SP Brewers –

Nelson has gotten off to a very nice start
allowing just two earned runs over 13 innings while striking out 13
batters. The young Milwaukee righty has an ERA of 1.38, WHIP of 0.88
and has allowed just 9 hits to date. With two starts for week 3
Nelson is a plug and play option.

Mike
Leake SP Cardinals –
Leake has pitched
well so far this season with just one earned run given up in 15
innings to date while K’ing 13 batters. The former Reds’ hurler has
given up just 10 hits so far in 2017 and with two starts for week
three he is a viable option.
